Dhaka District Judge’s Court has barred the use of the “facebook.com.bd” domain in Bangladesh following the hearing of a case filed by Facebook authorities against a Bangladeshi firm named A1 Software.
According to Advocate Moksadul Islam, Facebook’s counsel in Bangladesh for the case, the court has granted an interim injunction against the defendant Company, as well as issued a show-cause notice, and has ordered for a response within the next fifteen days.
On November 22, Facebook authority filed a complaint in the Dhaka District Judge’s Court against A1 Software Limited and one SK Shamsul Islam, demanding a ban on the operation of A1’s “facebook.com.bd” domain along with USD 50,000 in damages.
Barrister Moksadul told that the next hearing date has been scheduled for March 9, 2021.
